This workshop showed us how to use non-digital cameras that use light sensitive film instead and I found this useful as one it was a form of history approach as we're taking photos using older methods instead of todays technology. And two also gave us a way to archive the pictures we took by freezing them in time as a developed film strip that can be used to make photographs of memories preserved. I also like that the cameras had lots of settings so I tested them discovering different ways to manipulate the light so when my photographs are finalised I can see what worked and what didn't.
Once the photos were taken we had them in a film roll were we have to get out the film in a dark room and transfer them to a black out container, where it was then introduced to chemicals; a developer, a fix and a stop chemical. These when put in the correct order and agitated for timed periods allow the photos to develop into the film strip.
The film strips we're then kept in a drying cabinet where the become more hard and less delicate, so they're in the right condition where we can cut them up into smaller strips and use for developing into photographs using light sensitive photography paper.
