How will I start
To start off I will be looking through my chosen themes and their texts that I've picked out and then looking into them in further depth. This will help me gain a better understanding of what the writers and talking about. I will also look back at my blog posts off each interdisciplinary approach to help with my practical work and look and artists for inspiration.
Contextualised plans
Land and Fieldwork
For this pieces I will be using my time at home over Easter to document the places of my home using field work to explore the theme of land looking at the texts of Carl Zimmer and Justine Cooper. They talk about their explorations of the different museums and their collections referencing Mark Dion's "Wunderkammer" and so for my art response I want to show different collections I have from home through photos and sketches.
Health and Deep mapping
For these artworks I'm looking at the theme Health and creating postcards that represent my perspective of sickness from experience and using the approach of deep mapping and how the postcard travels like a sickness spreading. This is using the text by Susan Sontag and her piece "Illness as metaphor" and how she describes cancer and TB as "theft of life" and a "secret invasion".
Utopia and Autoethnography
I will be looking at the themes of Utopias being an ideal world and using the Thomas More and his text "Utopia 1516" where he talks about his thought on people living in a world where they are all equal and could live comfortably. I will use the approach of autoethnography and write a text piece as well as including drawings of my thoughts of an ideal world where we don't have consistent problems responding to this.
