We started two new modules Art writing and Interdisciplinary 2 where we learned about how artists use Appropriation and Failure to make artwork and the benefits and problem these two subjects bring using them.

Learning about Appropriation meaning "to take something and using it for one's use, usually without permission". We looked at artist Sherrie Levine and how she appropriated Walker Evans' art piece " Alabama Cotton Tenant Farmer Wife, 1936" by doing this she used a copy of the artwork and renamed it "After Walker Evans 1981" and we looked at how she used the copy by giving it a different context and meaning behind why she appropriated it showing her fascination in male artists.

For Failure we looked at artist Annika Strom and her art that focuses on imperfections and allowing the possibility of failure within her projects. For example, her film piece called "Seven women standing in the way", this project directs the group of women blocking different exits and entrances whilst laughing and holding drinks. It influences failure as its effecting different groups of people trying to pass through and how it could've been a negative reaction.

We annotated different articles and reviews on theses artists as well as other, learning to translate vocabulary and what it defined I found this really helpful because it made it easier for me to understand the text pieces and made it easier to know what their points were about the art pieces.

For interdisciplinary we looked at methods of using another artwork to make our own in a fieldwork approach, using parameters and resource gathering. I created a sketch from a photo I had taken as my fieldwork, making it a continuous line art as my parameters. I used a friends artwork asking permission to use it but I ended up creating an inspiration piece based on environment, a theme I chose that I thought her work was about and created this piece using my thoughts of environment.
