ART419/Performance Approaches

Looking at the different methods I found that they look at how to respond to art processes and themes through physical aspects. We explored this by choosing 3 themes that effect or that we use in our practices and then comparing them all together, seeing which ones link creating an artwork in itself interconnecting our words. We looked at performance pieces by artists showing their approaches, some examples were acting like the object that was the inspiration of their performance or making very little movement like posing creating a sort of statement. I also found the exercises fascinating as were given the task to come up with instructions on how to act out our chosen word with out speaking. I chose the word "Memory" which for me was quite tricky to define through actions so I decided to create a scene with a person watching television, looking a childhood videos and taking a photograph to reminisce on the memories. The method of creating instructions I found made it slightly more easier to plan out your next steps in acting and directing a performance which in the session I found to be a new experience .
